Government Relations | Building Codes | Equipment Loaner Program
PVAF staff and volunteers work closely with local, state, and federal government officials to provide consultation on the enforcement of the ADA, compliance with state & federal access codes, and sponsorship of legislation that improves the current guidelines for veterans and individuals with disabilities.
Activities include educational seminars, which furthers the issue of disability awareness.
The Access Board - A federal agency committed to accesible design http://www.access-board.gov/ ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) (includes supplements for state and local government facilities and for building elements designed for children's use).
The State of Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction http://www.dca.state.fl.us/fbc Staff provides technical support to architects, building officials, and consumers about accessibility requirements established by the Florida Legislature for minimum accessibility criteria in buildings for people with disabilities. A manual describing these accessibility requirements is available to all interested parties.
